Sound Effects - Drive

The purpose of the opening of drive is to make the audience want to be interested in the rest of the film and to drag them into watching more, the way they do this is to use a lot sound for the audience to listen to while watching the film.

The opening of drive is about a driver who is played by ryan gosling who is waiting for two men who have just committed a crime the driver has a that anyone he is picking up has to get into the car in 5 minutes other wise he'll just leave without them.

The sound has a lot to do with tension building, this makes them wonder what is going to happen and they like the fact there is lots of unawnsered questions that they want to be awnsered when they watch more of the film.

In the opening some of the sound effects they use are like the the sound of the police talking on the radio very quietly in the background and this makes the audiences wonder what is going to happen or what is happening as the police are associated with crime. His watch ticking puts the audience of edge because it shows he's running out of time and he has a time limit before he can get caught and when the alarm and sirens also go off it indicates something is going to go wrong so the audience begin to wonder what the driver is going to do, what might happen to the criminals and this then grabs the audience attention and makes them want to watch the rest of the film.
