Premier and after effects work really well together. There are lots of different ways of how they work together and how you can take premier footage into after effects.
One way is the typical way of exporting the footage as a media file then putting it to the work with on after effects. You can do this by clicking file - export - media.
The other way is to highlight your whole sequence - right click - then choosing "replace with after effects composition"
When you've done that it takes you straight into the after effects software and copies all of your work into the after effects to then work on.
Once you've put your work from premier to after effects you've unfortunately lost the work on premier. What you can do is to duplicate the sequence before transferring it over to after effects, this way you then have a back up copy if anything goes wrong.
