Music in films is supposed to give us a better idea of what the film is going to be about and representation of the characters. The music in the clip creates a sonic wallpaper for the montages and flashbacks of the character and the story he is telling. It helps the narrative flow and gives off what the character (Oliver Tate).
Elements (tempo, genre, tone, volume, instrumental?)
Instrumental - the music starts off with a flute noise and strings which is very calm.
Tone - neutral music to show us what sort of person Oliver is, it sounds like "thinking" music so when Oliver is writing the letter he is thinking what to write and about his life and the music goes along with it. It flows very well and is constant throughout the whole thing.
Volume - quiet, just in the background to follow the story Oliver is telling the audience.
Tempo - brisk walking paste, andante.
Genre - romantic, classical, detailed.
Meaning (what does the music bring to the clip?)
The music being what it is seems like Oliver's thought process and what he is thinking. The music goes with his thoughts which helps the audience understand more. It's a busy soundtrack all of his life. It reflects his character who is romantic and a little shy. The music being classical swell also gives off time and culture and what lives the characters live in the film.
